With its focus on minimalist design, traditional motifs and natural materials, Scandinavian Christmas decor is the perfect festive style for you if you like to keep your decorations chic and simple.

As you might expect given the dark and cold winters in the region, Nordic Christmas decor is all about creating a calm and cosy haven where you can really hunker down on those chilly December nights - that means plenty of soothing natural textures like wood, wicker and wool, and nostalgic traditional Christmas decorations, all bathed in soft warm white lighting and candles.

Read on for our pick of the best Scandi Christmas ornaments, tree toppers, baubles, and festive lights - and if you need to brush up on your Nordic aesthetic, check out our Scandi 101 style guide.

Best Scandinavian Christmas decorations

Scandinavian Christmas ornaments

Wooden Scandi Christmas village

When it comes to cosy and traditional Christmas decor, a festive village scene is hard to beat. This wooden Christmas village depicts Alpine-style buildings, with their windows lit up courtesy of eight white LED lights (requires 3 x AA batteries, not included). The same set is also available in a brown wood finish, if you prefer a more rustic look.

For maximum impact, we reckon this would look fabulous displayed on a mantelpiece, or why not style on a windowsill to give your home a truly festive warm welcome.

Karru Cotton Velvet Mini Stocking

Nkuku is one of our favourite destinations for ethically made and sustainably sourced homeware, so of course we had to take a peek at their Christmas collection! These cotton velvet mini stockings caught our eye right away - Nordic Christmas decor is all about incorporating natural materials, so the forest green velvet and jute-look trim on these tree ornaments make them a wonderful addition to a Scandi scheme.

Set of 7 Scandi Paper Fans

Neutral tones are a big part of Scandi decor, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't include some splashes of colour - especially at Christmas time. These wall fans from Dunelm are inspired by Scandinavian style, and come in a variety of sizes, patterns and colours, from ruby red to on-trend teal.

They're made of paper - great if you're looking for sustainable decorations this year - and we love that they're not overtly 'Christmassy', so you can display them all year round. If you love the look, you can discover more paper Christmas decoration ideas here.

Vadim nut cracker train decoration

If you're a lover of Scandi style and you're not already a regular visitor to Nordic Nest, you're definitely missing out! You'll find all manner of homeware from authentic regional brands like Ferm Living, Broste Copenhagen and Iittala, including a wide range of Christmas ornaments like this nostalgic Nutcracker train set from Bloomingville. Made using beech wood and painted in gorgeous muted tones, it's sure to be a centrepiece of your festive decor for years to come.

Cosy Wooden Christmas Tree Decoration

If you're looking for cheap Scandinavian Christmas decorations that will give your home that hygge vibe without breaking the bank, these wooden tree ornaments from Wilko are just the job. Currently selling for just £2 apiece, their intricate layered design will add instant interest to your tree. For more advice on dressing an Instagram-ready Christmas tree, just click here. Scandinavian tree toppers

Cane Tree Topper

For a simple Scandi tree topper, look no further than this cane tree topper from Dunelm. We love the woven wicker effect, which is eye-catching without taking away attention from the rest of the tree.

And for even more ideas, we've got plenty more Christmas tree toppers for you to explore.

Angel Christmas decoration white

Stars have become the predominant choice of tree topper in recent years, but many of us still have a soft spot for a Christmas tree angel - and this one from Danish homeware brand House Doctor combines simplicity and style. It's made of folded paper, giving it a homemade look we really love, with gold detailing on the head and halo for a welcome touch of shimmery Christmas glamour.

Silver Star Tree Topper

Nordic Craft is one of Marks & Spencer's themes for Christmas 2022 - fab news for fans of Scandinavian decor. This silver star tree topper from the collection is made of treated glass set in a metal frame. We love the aged patina, which gives the topper a charming antique finish. Also available in gold.

Scandinavian Christmas baubles

Silver Glass Hanging Baubles

Another gem from M&S's Nordic Craft range, this set of nine silver glass baubles in a variety of textures and patterns makes an ideal base layer for your tree, setting that relaxed but stylish tone that defines Scandi style. Add in some favourite tree ornaments or quirky baubles to complete your display.

Red and White Baubles Set of 30

Red and white is a classic Nordic colour combo, so in our search for Scandi-style baubles we couldn't leave these ones out. Made of shatterproof plastic, these charming baubles come in a variety of red and white patterns featuring classic Christmas motifs like snowflakes outlined in festive glitter.

There are 30 baubles included in the set - easily enough to cover an average tree - and they come with a container for easy storage between each festive season. Available for £14.95 at the time of writing, they're great value, too!

Fir Tree Ceramic Bells With Spray

If you want to treat yourself with some special Christmas baubles this year, you'll love this set of eight scented ceramic bells from The White Company. Yes, that's right - scented! Imbued with the fresh, woody fragrance of eucalyptus, pine and cedar, the bells are accompanied by a fir-scented spray - just spritz the baubles whenever you want to ramp up that Nordic forest vibe.

Scandinavian Christmas lights

50 Clear Bauble Micro Fairy Lights

Lighting is a crucial component of creating a cosy Scandinavian aesthetic in your home, especially in the cold, dark winter months. Because clean whites are so central to Scandi decor, opt for warm white lighting to prevent the look from becoming chilly. This 3.9m set of fairy lights from Lights4Fun is a just the job, featuring 50 glass globes containing battery-powered warm white LEDs. This sophisticated spin on fairy lights won't look out of place even when Christmas is a distant memory.

Trapp candle arch

Swedish brand Star Trading is one of Sweden’s top names when it comes to lighting, so they're well worth exploring for Scandinavian Christmas lights. We're big fans of this candle arch, which perfectly combines traditional and contemporary influences, resulting in an elegant and timeless design that would look great in a window or as a Christmas table centrepiece. The candelabra includes seven artificial candles, and is also available in red, white, grey and black finishes to complement a variety of decor schemes.

2m Frosted Berry and Pinecone Christmas Garland & Micro Light Bundle

A Christmas garland with warm glowing lights peeking through the foliage - are there any sights more festive? This Scandi Christmas garland is studded with micro lights, casting a flow on the lifelike pinecones, eucalyptus, acorns and berries, with a frosted finish to get that authentic snow-dusted feeling. It measures 2m, perfect for styling along a mantelpiece or bannister, or as a table runner.
