Bring a dash of romance into your life with sophisticated looks inspired by our favourite show! With the return of Bridgerton, there's been a surge in interest in Regencycore interiors.

Regencycore celebrates styles and colours that would have been popular in the era when Bridgerton was set, but with a fresh modern twist.

There are lots of easy ways to give your home a touch of Bridgerton style without looking dated, from dreamy pastel colour palettes to beautiful soft furnishings and accessories.

Once you've chosen your colour scheme and a few carefully chosen pieces, you'll be ready to unwind with the latest issue of Lady Whistledown while you wait for your suitors to arrive.

Read on to discover how to create a look that'll make you feel like the Diamond of the Season.

Choose your Bridgerton colour palette

If you've been watching closely, you might have noticed the clever colour symbolism used in Bridgerton. Each family has a different signature colour, which changes to reflect the progress of their romantic story. Once you've noticed it, it's impossible to miss!

For example, Daphne in season one starts out wearing blue (the Bridgerton's signature colour) and white to reflect her innocence, but the colour of her dresses changes to become more purple as she grows closer to the Duke, who often dresses in reds and purples.

These colours are also reflected in the show's sets, making every home in the Ton unique to each family.

Bridgerton blues

Blue is the signature shade of the Bridgertons, so it's not surprising to see blue and occasional purple tones in the family home, especially in the drawing room.

The iconic Bridgerton blue is actually Wedgwood blue, a very distinctive ceramic shade produced by the Wedgwood pottery from Stoke-on-Trent in the UK.

Wedgwood pottery was hugely popular in the Regency era and would even have graced the table of Queen Charlotte herself. She loved Wedgwood so much that the company's founder Josiah Wedgwood was allowed to refer to himself as "Potter to Her Majesty".

It's not surprising that the fashionable, high-status Bridgerton family would choose a colour favoured by Queen Charlotte to decorate their home.

Featherington citrus shades

The Featherington family are often seen as outsiders, in sharp contrast to the more respectable Bridgertons. They've been described as Bridgerton's Kardashian family.

When they're not struggling to get enough money to keep up with the rest of the Ton, the Featheringtons like to fill their home and their wardrobes with citrus colours such as oranges, yellows and greens.

Citrus colours are an easy way to achieve a Regencycore look in a way that feels fresh and modern.

Royal reds

As befits a monarch, Queen Charlotte's palace is decorated in deep reds, which reflects her powerful position and gives a sense of tradition.

Watch closely and you'll also notice other influential characters opting for rich red shades in their homes, such as Queen Charlotte's close friend Lady Danbury.

Reds can lend a warm, welcoming feel to your decor when used sparingly. Too much red can feel oppressive!

Soft mints

In season three, Penelope Featherington makes the brave decision to step out of the shadows and try to find a husband. As part of this transformation, she sets aside her yellow and orange gowns and trades them in for softer shades of green which flatter her complexion.

The green also represents her old yellow colour scheme blending with Bridgerton blues as she grows closer to Colin.

A soft mint green palette is very soothing and would make any room feel instantly more inviting.

Wisteria hysteria

Looking for a more subtle Bridgerton shade? Consider choosing soft purple paints that will remind you of the glorious wisteria plant that winds itself around the front door of the Bridgerton house on Grosvenor Square.

Take the floral theme even further by decking out your living room with faux foliage.

10 Bridgerton decor ideas for instant elegance

1. Make an entrance

Bridgerton Royal Garden multicolour rug, from £119, Ruggable

Create a sense of drama from the moment you step into your home with elegant faux floral displays and ornate patterns. The hallway is an often overlooked area but it’s a great place to set the tone for the rest of your home – even if yours isn’t quite on the same scale as this one!

As this is a space you won’t spend long in, you can get away with going all out with pattern and colour, without it feeling overwhelming. Match your colours with the patterns you’re using for a cohesive look.

2. Get your beauty sleep

Classic Hotel bed linen, from £17 for a pair of pillowcases, Tielle Love Luxury

Spoil yourself with high thread count cotton bedding. These luxurious sheets are more densely woven than ordinary bedding, creating a slightly heavier fabric and, when woven with a satin weave, a silky smooth finish.

This style of bedding tends to be more expensive but the high-quality fabric washes well and lasts longer than ordinary bedlinen – meaning your investment will pay off in the end.

3. Fake those features

Annie Sloan regency paints

Paint and stick your way to grandeur with murals and moulding. With a steady hand and a bit of imagination, you can even add features using paint. This painted portico gives this doorway an irresistible sense of theatre. If painting isn’t your thing, you can add pre-made mouldings instead.

Make rectangular frames using beading and attach them to the bottom of your wall to create the effect of panelling.

4. Accentuate your lighting

Don’t let modern lighting give the game away. Add opulence with plenty of softer options to create an elegant atmosphere.

If you’re renting, or don’t fancy calling out an electrician, table lamps and free-standing floor lamps can help you create the same effect.

5. Create a showy backdrop

Chinoiserie garden wallpaper

A true period drama needs the perfect scenery, and you can set the stage using custom-made murals. These large-scale designs have a transportive effect, giving a sense of depth and space.

Look out for designs that draw from artworks from the era you’d like to recreate – like this 19th century design from Sandberg. Using original source material will help you to create a more authentic look.

6. Set the scene

Scallop trim napkins, £3.50 for 2 wine glass in green, £3.50 plain green candle, £1.50 for 2 green ombre candles, £2 for 2 candlestick, £2.50 scallop tableware, from £3.50, all Primark

Give your dining space main character energy by creating a layered tablescape for hosting a stylish soirée. Displays like these can look tricky to pull off but the rules are straightforward.

Create plenty of height by stacking up tableware; start with the widest pieces and work up to the smaller ones. Stick to a maximum of three colours and reference these across your pieces – for example, matching candles to glassware and napkins.

7. Bolster the effect

Bolster cushion from Next inspired by Bridgerton

Restyle your sofa for a time-travelling effect. You’ll need two bolster cushions, one to place at each end with the short edges facing outwards.

Choose a cushion that’s the same length as the depth of your sofa but, if you can’t find the perfect size, place the cushion so that a short end is level with the front of your sofa and fill in the gap with another cushion.

8. Think French

French-inspired table from The Cotswold Company

French design comes with a sense of attention to detail. Choose furniture with extra curls, swoops and waves for a touch of something special. When searching for second-hand furniture online, try terms such as ‘cabriole legs’ and ‘bow fronted’.

Don’t worry if the pieces are a little more shabby than chic: a gentle buff with a soft cloth and beeswax-based polish is often all you need to return them to splendour.

9. Bring luxury to the bathroom

Benjamin Moore regency bathroom

Don’t neglect your bathroom when it comes to creating an all-round royalcore look. It’s a place where you can really treat yourself like royalty, so it should look the part too!

Swap modern mirrors for something a little more elaborate and paint the frame gold. Introduce secondhand furniture, like an ornate chair to drape a robe over, or a chest of drawers to use as storage or upcycle into a washstand. When adding wooden pieces to high-moisture areas like bathrooms, give them a fresh coat of varnish for the best protection.

10. Put a ring on it

Waterloo bed frame from The Original Bed Co

Transform your bedroom with a regal bed frame. Avoid modern, angular four-poster bed styles and look for something with graceful lines and curves. These designs will allow you the option of adding draperies and curtains, but are also elegant enough to hold their own without them.

If your room feels too bijou for a frame like this, consider adding a circular ‘ciel de lit’, or hanging canopy, which attaches to the wall or ceiling above your bed. These will require curtains, as they’ll look a little disconnected without them. But you can use any lightweight, pre-made curtains that are the right length to touch the floor.
