This snowy pair of feathered friends are so simple to make using just some basic nesting dies and festive papers. If you don’t have a die cutter, just use scissors to cut out the shapes for your penguins.

You will need:

  • Penguin template - download and print here
  • Coloured cardstock
  • Festive papers
  • Oval, heart and circle dies (optional)
  • Snowflake embellishment
  • Adhesive gems
  • Buttons and pompom
  • Beading wire and ribbon
  • Craft knife or scissors
  • Pencil and ruler
  • Glue pen
  • Foam pads

Step 1

Take a 14cm square card blank. Line up the template with the fold and cut out. Cut the template from black and white lattice card. Glue to the front of the card.

Step 2

Cut the heart-shaped body centre from white card. Create the eyes from small nesting circle dies and attach in place.

Step 3

To make the hat, cut an 8cm tall triangle from blue polka-dot paper. Add a 9.5 x 2.5cm glitter trim with foam pads. Attach to the top of the penguin with a fluffy pompom on top. Decorate with a snowflake embellishment.

Step 4

For the scarf, cut two narrow strips of striped paper. Stick the long one across the penguin. Die cut two flippers using small oval dies. Attach with foam pads. Glue the short scarf strip on top.

Step 5

Cut an orange die-cut circle in half for the feet and attach to the bottom of the penguin with foam pads. Add a beak on top of the scarf, to finish.
