How to make marble-effect coasters
Here's how to make your very own stylish marble and metallic coasters

Published:
These marble and metallic coasters are super simple to make and will look stylish on a coffee table. Here’s how to make them:
You will need:
- Ceramic coasters
- Windsor & Newton Navy ink
- Old plate 4 Shaving cream
- Old knife or spatula
- Stirring stick
- Pebeo gilding wax in Empire Gold
- Paintbrush
Step 1
Add a layer of shaving foam to an old plate (enamel ones work well as the ink will wash off of them easily). Drop a few dots of navy ink across the shaving cream. Marble together using a stirring stick to weave the ink through the cream to create a swirled effect.

Step 2
Place the ceramic coaster down into the marbled shaving foam and then remove the excess cream with a swipe using either an old blunt knife or rubber spatula. You can also run them under the tap to make sure all the foam is removed.

Step 3
Once they are dry add gold details with the gilding wax. Buff the wax on using a paintbrush and use the lines of the marble as a guide for the gold for a cohesive look.
