Fairy light bell jars have been a trend for some time now, but it's not too late to jump on the bandwagon so why not take a look at our how-to guide and give these dragonfly bell jars a go?

You will need

  • A laser printer or photocopier
  • Scissors for paper
  • Clear parcel tape
  • Water firefly bell jar bundle (Lights4Fun)

Step 1

Begin by sourcing your images – we went online and found some vintage royalty-free illustrations. Print or photocopy your chosen pictures using a laser printer or photocopier – not an inkjet one – this is very important. Roughly cut them out, then apply clear packing tape to the front of each image.

Step 2

Trim closely around the edge of each picture, then take one and dip it in a bowl of clean water. Leave to soak for a couple of minutes, then take it out. Turn the transfer over so the paper side is facing upwards, and carefully rub at it – the paper should come away from the tape, leaving the image behind, transferred onto it.

Step 3

Leave your transfer to dry a little. After a few minutes, take it and carefully apply it, sticky-side-down, to the inside of your bell jar. Smooth it out with your finger to ensure there are no air bubbles or moisture caught underneath it. Repeat to apply all of your transfers, then put your bell jar back onto its stand, placing a string of micro LED lights inside to finish.
