How to make a hanging planter
Here's how to make your own boho-inspired planter for your houseplants
This boho-inspired planter will make the perfect home for your favourite houseplants! Here’s everything you’ll need to make it…
You will need:
- Cream embroidery floss
- Cream thread
- Cream felt, 1mm thick
- Glue gun
- Fine-toothed comb
- Rattan hanging planter
- Jute ribbon
Take a skein of floss and tie all the loops at one end together with a short length of thread to create a tab. Repeat for the other end of the floss then cut through the threads approximately 5cm down from the tab on both ends. Cut a 4cm circle of felt, fold in half and snip a small slit halfway along the fold. Unfold and then insert the tab through the hole. Spread out the thread, apply glue to the felt and fold in half. Turn over and glue the other side.
Use a fine-toothed comb to straighten the threads then trim the tassel. Repeat the steps to make the required number of tassels.
Glue the tabs of the tassels, evenly spaced, around the top of the planter. Trim the tabs and then glue the jute ribbon around the top edge to hide the ends, to finish.
