KitchenAid stand mixers are a familiar favourite among home bakers, popular for their choice of functions and stylish gloss exteriors. But with the cheapest model coming in at almost £350, it’s safe to say they’re not in everyone’s price range.

If you’re in the market for a new appliance, it’s worth doing your research before you part with any cash, as there’s a huge selection of table top mixers available.

We’ve found the brands offering the best KitchenAid dupes, combining the sleek retro styling we love with plenty of intuitive functions - all for under £300, and most for around £100.

Best KitchenAid stand mixer alternatives

Aucma

With its curved head and decorative chrome strip, Aucma’s budget-friendly food mixer shares many design features with the iconic KitchenAid version.

It also has a larger capacity than the cheapest KitchenAid stand mixer (4.3L), with a huge 6.2L stainless steel bowl. Plus, you’ll get six motor speeds and a handy pulse function for better control over your mix. Also included in the package are three interchangeable accessories: a whisk, dough hook and beater.

We’re spotlighting the black model for its smart exterior, but the red version would give a nice pop of colour. Or, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, why not try the blue or purple designs?

Kenwood

Kenwood is a bestselling brand when it comes to kitchen appliances, and while this stand mixer may not be the most affordable on our list, it’s certainly a customer favourite.

With its minimal design details and smooth, glossy body, you can’t beat Kenwood’s mixer for smart, retro style. Whether you opt for the red, black or cream version, it’s sure to make a statement on your worktop.

As well as a sleek design, this 5L stand mixer can offer a useful ‘smart speed’ function, which gradually increases the power to make sure your ingredients combine well.

VonShef

While this VonShef stand mixer has a slightly more angular head than the classic KitchenAid version, it still features the smart chrome strip detailing to give it that retro feel.

With its 4.5L bowl, it’s also one of the more compact designs on our list, perfect for small households or occasional cooks. You’ll also get eight different speed settings, plus the pulse option. As a smart finishing touch, a blue LED tells you when the power is on.

Buy this stand mixer in three classic colours: red, white or black.

Cuisinart

Quirky retro design and an aesthetically pleasing curved exterior make Cuisinart’s stand mixer hard to ignore. It’ll look great on any kitchen work surface and its black finish should give it a smart feel for years to come.

But this stand mixer isn’t just a pretty face; it also comes with an impressive 12 speed settings. And its 5.2L capacity makes it ideal for family kitchens and everyday baking.

Salter

Similar in design to the VonShef stand mixer above, this version from Salter features a flat top with the familiar metal ring for a smart finish. Although it has a large 5L bowl, its neat shape lends itself well to compact or minimalist kitchens, as it’ll easily tuck in amongst other appliances on your worktop.

Salter keeps things simple with two different colour choices. Choose between this sleek silver model or go for the black version.

Swan

Swan is a firm favourite when it comes to retro appliances, so it’s always worth checking out the brand’s products if you’re drawn to the old-style look.

This 4L stand mixer is the smallest on our list, so it’s perfect for small households - and crammed cupboards!

As with most of Swan’s appliances, there are plenty of different colour options. Complement neutral schemes with the cream model, or choose between the blue, green, purple or yellow versions for a splash of colour.

Tower

Thanks to its curved head and partial metallic detailing, the Tower stand mixer could be the closest in design to the KitchenAid model. But it combines retro and on-trend styling by adding rose-gold accents.

Six speed settings and a pulse function come as standard with this mixer, and the bowl has enough room to fit 5L of ingredients inside.

For a more classic design, why not try the black and chrome version?
